Musée d'Arts de Nantes

Musée d’Arts de Nantes – The Musée d’Arts de Nantes (formerly Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes) is one of the most important art museums in western France, located in the heart of Nantes. Founded in 1801, the museum underwent a major renovation and expansion completed in 2017, creating a stunning contemporary museum complex that seamlessly integrates a 19th-century palace with modern architecture. The collection spans seven centuries of art history, from the 13th to 21st centuries, with exceptional holdings of European painting and sculpture. The museum features masterpieces by Georges de La Tour, Perugino, Tintoretto, Rubens, Ingres, Delacroix, Courbet, Monet, and Kandinsky. The museum is particularly renowned for its outstanding collection of 19th and 20th-century art, including major works by the Pont-Aven School and important modern and contemporary artists. The distinctive Cube, a contemporary extension designed by Stanton Williams, has become an architectural landmark of the city.
