Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux – The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux is one of the largest and most important art museums in France outside of Paris, located in the heart of Bordeaux within two wings of the Hôtel de Ville (City Hall). Founded in 1801 by the painter Pierre Lacour, the museum houses an exceptional collection of European painting and sculpture from the Renaissance to the modern era. The collection features masterpieces by Perugino, Titian, Veronese, Rubens, Van Dyck, Delacroix, Corot, Renoir, and Matisse. The museum is particularly renowned for its outstanding holdings of 17th-century Dutch and Flemish painting, its important collection of 19th-century French art, and its significant works by Bordeaux-born artists including Rosa Bonheur and Odilon Redon. The museum also maintains an impressive sculpture garden and a notable collection of prints and drawings.
