Kupferstichkabinett
Kupferstichkabinett – The Kupferstichkabinett is Germany’s largest collection of works on paper and one of the four most important graphic art museums in the world. Founded in 1831, it holds over 550,000 prints and 110,000 drawings, watercolours and oil sketches spanning a thousand years of art history. The collection is particularly renowned for its Italian, Early German and Netherlandish drawings, with outstanding holdings by Botticelli, Dürer, Rembrandt, Bruegel and Caspar David Friedrich. Works on paper are sensitive to light, so the museum presents changing exhibitions rather than a permanent display. Visitors can request specific originals in the study room.
